When Jesus washed his disciples feet, it set an example for me.

On September 25th, we had Uprising, which is when all our community groups gather together for a monthly service. I had been really praying for this next school year, we have some great things in store, but just really praying that God would really rock each student's world this next year, and that they would encounter God.

We had been planning what we were going to talk through in groups, and I was just praying for what I would talk to the students about leading up into our Groups. I really felt like God was laying it on my heart to talk about John 13.

John 13 is the beginning of the documentation of Jesus' last hours on earth before his crucifixion, and in this chapter Jesus washes his disciples feet. He humbled himself knowing that there was a guy that had betrayed him, one that would deny him, and yet Jesus took all that and humbly served them. I really felt like we needed to posture ourselves in humility as a student ministry and also with one another.

In my leader meeting prior to Uprising, we talked through our normal stuff, and then I shared with them what I was speaking on, and that I was going to wash their feet. It was a moment of prayer, posturing myself humbly before them, and serving them. We spent some time in prayer and really was ready for the night. As I spoke on John 13 that night - I had my leaders in turn wash their students feet. And after their feet was washed they were given a towel that said "Go Team" to remind them whose team they are on, and to remind them to humbly serve those around them. Especially the ones that don't deserve it.

Its my prayer that each student and leader continue to posture themselves in a manner of humility to those around us. No matter what rights we have, or that we think we have, we are called to follow Jesus' example. And he had every right in the world, but he served humbly.

I am really excited and have a lot of anticipation for this next school year. God is up to something crazy awesome, and I cannot wait!
